How-To Host an Intimate Birthday Party in the Fall With Ease

Well Hello, 40!

I’m so excited to share all the charming details of prepping and planning with ease for my Boho Chic 40th Birthday Party, in our Seasonal Vibes series Part 2.

Years ago I started a secret Pinterest board to get a headstart on planning for my special milestone, but due to the pandemic, I had to pivot and opted to make it an intimate event with close family and friends instead.

Yesss darling the show

Home

It was “home” for me. Fall weather is so blissful in the south and home provides warmth and a balanced atmosphere of coziness during the cool nights. I chose to host my small birthday party in my home because it allowed me to have more flexibility with time and the ambiance that I wanted to evoke for my special event. My personal home decorating style is eclectic but it leans heavily toward boho, so choosing the barefooted, easy-going, whimsical party theme was predestined. Plus, why not highlight my beautiful boho-inspired wooden beaded chandelier!

Boho Chic

I chose my muted color palette with multiple shades of pink party theme because I wanted to create a romantic bohemian vibe. The color pink represents femininity and playfulness so it was important to me to incorporate this energy into my theme. I just love the course textures in a bohemian design but I kept it simple and classy with various shades of soft velvet pillows, linen napkins, and linen tablecloths. The all-natural low-sitting picnic table set the breathable touch of nature vibe for my entire party, it definitely understood the assignment!

I opted for gold accents and accessories in my party theme because metallics add just the right amount of elegance and sophistication to any space. The vintage modern gold candlestick holders with ivory candlesticks promoted a perfect atmosphere of tranquility. Even though it was a chilly fall night outside, the flickering light from the candles made it cozy and warm inside. My floras were from Publix and I ordered the pampas and dried palm leaves from Amazon. This was indeed a budget-friendly affair. We listened to one of my favorite artists, Lauren Hill, her soulful ballads filled the air as we vibed.

// Choose Your Vendors //

Party Rentals - Boxwood Event Rental (Susan)

Chef - Chef K Carter (Krys)

Baker - Cafe Aromas (Jennifer)

Weddings are center stage during the Fall because the weather is so blissful, so it’s always a great idea to plan your vendors in advance. First, I decided to hire a private Chef because you and I both know how hectic things can get when you are planning an event and preparing the meal at the same time. (Hint-hint kid’s birthday parties!) I knew in my heart that I needed ease hunti, it was the assignment, so I hired some help well in advance. Chef Krys of Chef K Carter was very professional and easy to work with. He made me feel like my party was important to him by making sure my meal complimented the vibe I wanted to create for my party. He showed up way in advance to prepare my menu and was very well organized. Secondly, I hired Boxwood Event Rentals for my party rental after I chose my theme. They literally have everything you need to host any event. It was such a challenge to find a local vendor that provided a low-sitting boho picnic table in Atlanta. Trust me, I looked high and low and no one had it besides Boxwood. So if you are planning an event and you are in need of party rental, I highly recommend Susan and her team. She was kind and super professional to work with. Lastly, I hired my baker, Jennifer is the owner of Cafe Aromas and has baked many cakes for me since I have been in Georgia. She is a delight to work with and I have referred her to many of my family and friends. Her baked goods are heaven-sent. Again the key to hosting any successful event is to make a checklist and plan, plan, plan in advance.

Overall, my birthday celebration was amazing! I was filled with unspeakable joy and gratitude to be loved and surrounded by an intimate gathering of family and friends during this pandemic. At 40, I am wholeheartedly embracing this blessed assurance of who God created me to be. 🤍

Planning this party was fun and easy, but I’m going to keep it a whole buck with you…that dang balloon garland almost took me out!😂 I had all hands on deck the night before creating this design and by Saturday morning half of the ballons were on the floor! 😂 No lie, Murphy’s law! The pampas are cute to add but they carry weight, so take that into consideration on where you plan to incorporate them in your party design. I must’ve used a gazillion zots to prevent that from happening during the party.

Anyhow~anyway, I digress…lol! It all turned out fine. We had an amazing time celebrating my special day and making #MooreMemories.
